Reviewed by. Mocha Latte Two months after the events that took place in City of Glass we discover that someone is murdering Shadowhunters who previously allied themselves with Valentine and his circle, displaying their carcases around the city of New York.
Hostility begins to build between Shadowhunters and Downworlds and their ties begin to wither. As Jace and Clary try to figure out what exactly is going on they discover something that could bring them closer or tear them apart for good. Meanwhile, Simon's playing the part of "monkey-in-the-middle" with everyone who wants the "daylighter" on their side, though he wants nothing to do with them. In City of Fallen Angels, we find ourselves back in the world we fell in love with where the stakes are higher.
City of Fallen Angels takes place after the events of City of Glass. It shifts its focus between Jace and Clary and Clary's best friend, Simon, and how he adjusts to life as a vampire. Reviewed by. ValerieThis book is just mostly for entertainment. But if you've already read the first two you already know this. When I finished I let out a sigh of gratitude. I finished! No more questions and no more wondering.
The characters are still there growing strong. Clary is still impetuous but she is also still very caring. Jace tries to go above a beyond to protect her but he also has to fight his own demons (get it "demons", well at least I'm trying). Lucian stays the same for the most part; you see him work hard to make things right.
Simon really evolves from his goofy persona to a more mature character but he is still a great funny character. Isabel and Alec seem to release more from their tightly compressed shadowhunter role. The mom finally comes up too and she is the one to answer all the questions. Valentine is still crazy.
As the Lightwoods, Jace and Clary prepare to leave for Alicante, the Institute is attacked by Forsaken, forcing the others to leave without Clary, and take Simon with them.
While the others meet up with Aline and her cousin Sebastian, Clary, stranded in New York, creates her own Portal to the city and travels there with Luke. They arrive in Lake Lyn, where the cursed water makes Clary feverish, and Luke takes her to his sister Amatis to recover.
Alec is ordered to bring Simon to the new Inquisitor, who wishes to know why a Downworlder is in Alicante. Under the ruse that Simon is being sent home, the Clave secretly interrogate and imprison him.
Clary sneaks out to visit the Lightwoods, but argues with Jace and storms out. After leaving, Clary meets Sebastian, and tells him about her mother's coma and her need to find the warlock Ragnor Fell. Sebastian takes her to Ragnor's house, but Ragnor is dead and Magnus is there in his place. Magnus temporarily freezes Sebastian so that he cannot hear and tells Clary to bring him a spell book from the Wayland country home, and she convinces Jace to take her there.

Reviewed by. KarinCITY OF ASHES is the much anticipated sequel to last year’s City of Bones. Never have I been more excited to get a book in the mail. I have to admit, I was looking forward to CITY OF ASHES even more than when I was waiting for Harry Potter 7.
Re-entering the world of the Shadowhunters was thrilling. Clary and Jace are dealing with their father’s theft of the Angel’s Cup and are continuing to struggle with the fact that they are brother and sister.
Events take place directly after where the story in City of Bones finished. The story is told in third person and mostly from the perspective of Clary, including her confusion over her relationship with her new found brother and her feelings for Simon.

Having already read the first book in the new prequel trilogy to this series, The Infernal Devices, I starting reading this book with some preconceived notions. Cassandra Clare blew them completely out of the water.
The world was familiar, the weapons, the battles and the environment. Humans, werewolves, vampires, warlocks, Shadow Hunters, down worlders and mundane all mixed up in events together. But being set in our time was an amazing new twist on something I was familiar with.
And yet something so new and unique I found myself picking up the book again and again when I should have been doing other things, and saying to myself just one more page, or till the end of this section or chapter but could literally not make myself put the book down.
